GREATER ACCRA, GHANA – Ghanaian born reggae-dancehall performing and recording artiste, Charles Nii-Armah Mensah, popularly christened for his musicianship as Shatta Wale, has expressed gross weight of regret to musician Kwaw Kese, after the latter didn’t receive a good reception from fans of Shatta Movement on the launch of the Wonder Boy Album.
According to the awards winning reggae-dancehall artiste, the actions; pelting bottles at Kwaw Kese during his performance at the just ended second edition of his annual Reign Concert, and Wonder Boy album from some section of the Shatta Movement fans were misguided and unwarranted which must not be entertained in the country’s entertainment ecosystem.
Speaking as a guest to Kwesi Abooagye on Peace 104.3Fm’s Entertainment Review show, the “Melissa” hitmaker rendered a heartwarming apology to Kwaw Kese and his management, explaining that, he is deeply sorry for what his fans did to the Ghanaian born rapper and hiplife artiste who just came as a surprise artiste to help support the concert, adding that, he has no beef with Kwaw Kese but its the fans who misunderstand the latter leading to the misconduct.
Ghanaian superstar reggae and dancehall performer, Shatta Wale shares his new 14 track project titled ‘Wonder Boy.’ The project has no features with singles like “Ay3 Halfcast”, “Jata Bi”, and his biggest song of 2019 “Melissa”. Kuami Eugene Unveil Activities For Rock Star Concert
Award winning Ghanaian musician and Lynx Entertainment protégé, Kuami Eugene, is headed to Kumasi this Christmas. The Obiaato hitmaker will host the second edition of the Rockstar Concert on Wednesday December 25, 2019.
Unlike the maiden edition, Kuami Eugene during a press conference held at Royal Lamerta Hotel in Kumasi revealed this year’s concert is free and open to all. He also listed a number of activities that will precede the Rockstar Concert ’19. These include a float in the principal streets of Kumasi followed by a health screening exercise at the event grounds. (Jubilee Park)
Although a money making season for most A list artists including himself, Kuami Eugene believes a free concert and health screening exercise is a small of appreciating the great love and support from the Ashanti region.
Rockstar Concert ’19 will see performances from record label mates Kidi, Dope Nation and many others including Adina. Also billed to perform are 20 upcoming artists who were selected during an audition in Kumasi.
The concert which starts at 7pm is organized by Lynx Entertainment and sponsored by itel with support from SAQS Pharmacy Limited and Black Rock Wisky. Media partners include NYDJ Live Media, Kessben Media and Pure FM.
Ghanaian-English Artiste, Fuse ODG Launches TINA Festival – 2020.
GREATER ACCRA, GHANA (www.georgebritton.com) - Climaxing events for the "Year of Return" initiative, Global Afrobeat Superstar & Ghanaian-English recording artiste, Nana Richard Abiona, better known by his stage name Fuse ODG and his This Is New Africa (TINA) team has launched and highlighted the series of events, programs that will feature some of Africa’s leading artists, musicians and thought leaders at the 2020 edition of TINA Festival.
The event which was hosted at Sai Wine Shop, Labone and scheduled for January 1-3, 2019, will present the inaugural, "This is New Africa (TINA) Festival", a series of events to promote Afrobeats music and culture and the African continent and Ghana as a catalyst for tourism and investment. The press launch garnered the presence of a legion of media personalities and The Director of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President, Mr Akwesi Awua-Ababio.
The festival will kick off on the 1st of January with the Nation Building Day, an event to encourage the diaspora community to give back to society. On this day, volunteers will visit the Akosombo School, a school co-founded by This is New Africa and Wood World Mission Charity to interact with pupils and clean and paint the school. The New Africa Nation Conference will be held on 2nd January at the Accra International Conference Center with a series of discussions and talks led by top thought leaders from the African continent.
TINA Festival will climax on the 3rd of January with an all-day music concert, marketplace and Kente/African print fashion competition held at the Round Pavilion of the Trade Fair Center featuring DJs and live performances from award-winning artists, Fuse ODG, Sarkodie, SteffLondon, Joey B, Lethal Bizzle and more.
Speaking at the press launch, Fuse ODG revealed that, TINA Fest will be the place where people come to experience genuine Afrobeats culture and lifestyle that comes with the music as well as serve as a platform for them to come back home, experience the rich Ghanaian culture and share their own stories, adding that, envision TINA Festival becoming the global home for the African sound of Afrobeat like the Glastonbury Festival is the home to Rock music.
The TINA Festival is being produced in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and is the first event scheduled for the Year of Return, a year-long calendar of activities inviting the global African family to a birth-right journey home to Ghana.
Waterfront Development Withdraws Legal Actions Against Afro Nation
GREATER ACCRA, GHANA (www.georgebritton.com) - After an earlier action seeking to place an injunction on the use of the venue for the festival, Waterfront Development Ltd and Coastal Property Holdings Ltd has thrown its weight behind Afro Nation and Afro Nation Ghana to successfully execute it forthcoming beach festival.
According to a statement published on their website, the teams from Waterfront Development and Afro Nation reached an amicable agreement on the AfroNation 2019 Festival after a closed door meeting. The statement said Afro Nation Ghana has presented Waterfront Development with their security and event plans to Waterfront Development’s satisfaction.
Consequently, “Waterfront Development will withdraw its legal action against AfroNation and wishes them well”, the statement added.
Afro Nation the biggest urban music festival brand in the world starts from 27th to 30 December at the stunning Laboma beach. President Bio Visits Vivendi Group To Discuss Sierra Leone Entertainment Industry.
PARIS, FRANCE – Sierra Leonean politician, and the 5th and current president of Sierra Leone, his Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio has visited the Headquarters of Vivendi Group, an integrated content, media and communications group, to discuss possibilities of promoting Sierra Leone’s entertainment industry.
Chairman of Vivendi Village and Senior Executive Vice President of Communications, Simon Gillham, told the President about the CanalOlympia project which he described as the leading network of cinema and live performance venues in Africa.
He explained that because of the President’s commitment, they had identified Sierra Leone for the construction of the first CanalOlympia project in an Anglophone country in West Africa. He added that the project would involve the construction of a movie theatre with a capacity of around 300 seats and an open-air stage with a capacity for around 5,000 people for concerts and other kinds of entertainment shows.
“CanalOlympia venues are fitted with the latest sound and projection, including 3D, technologies and use energy provided by solar panels and batteries. This project will be done at no cost to government and it will create jobs for local people,” Mr. Gillham said.
Responding, President Bio thanked Vivendi Group for identifying Sierra Leone to implement the CanalOlympia project as it would contribute to developing infrastructure for the entertainment industry. He said that the project should be used to identify talents and develop young people in the entertainment industry.
The President immediately encouraged his Minister of Tourism and Culture, Madam Memunatu Pratt, who was also part of his delegation, to ensure that all necessary documentation and support were provided upon their return for the implementation of the CanalOlympia project.
The CanalOlympia venues have already been opened in the following cities: Conakry (Guinea), Yaounde and Douala (Cameroon), Niamey (Niger), two in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Dakar (Senegal), two in Lomé (Togo), Cotonou (Benin), Port-Gentil (Gabon), Brazzaville (Congo) and Antananarivo (Madagascar).
