The Adjabeng District Court has adjourned the trial of Reggae/Dancehall artistes Livingstone Etse Satekla, Stonebwoy and Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly, Shatta Wale to July 15, 2019, as it has ordered police prosecutors to file all the documents they intend to rely on for the trial of dancehall artistes.
This was after the prosecution led by Superintended Emelia Asante told the court that, they have filed some of the documents and needed time to file the rest. According to her, the state intended to call four prosecution witnesses for the trial of the two musicians.
Prosecutors in the case involving dancehall artistes, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale have told the court that they will present four witnesses to testify against them. Though the names of the witnesses were not mentioned, it is expected that their testimonies will corroborate the evidence to be presented by the prosecution in the case.
Superintendent Asante told the court presided over Isaac Addo that, they have so far filed the witness statements and exhibits of three out of the four witnesses and were yet to file that of the last witness.
The trial follows disturbances that ensued between the two artistes at this year’s VGMA where Stonebwoy was seen holding a gun after Shatta Wale together with some of his fans approached the stage while Stonebwoy was about receiving his award for dancehall artiste of the year.
Shatta Wale is facing a charge of offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace while Stonebwoy is on trial for offensive conduct conducive to breach of peace as well as display of fire arm in public without permission.
Earlier, Shatta and Stonebwoy have faced public criticism for their roles in the incident, and were arrested before being granted bail of GHc50,000 each. They all pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them.
