”Make Diaspora Homingcoming Biennial Event” – Prez. Akufo-Addo

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has charged the Diaspora Affairs Office with the responsibility of institutionalising the Ghana Diaspora Celebration & Homecoming Summit (GDHS 2019) as a biennial event.

The charge comes at the back of the Diaspora Affairs Office of the Presidency announcing the date of this year’s edition of the Ghana Diaspora Celebration and Homecoming Summit. The event is slated for the 3rd July to 6th July, 2019 from 9am to 5pm each day at the Accra International Conference Centre.

According to a release from the office of the (GDHS 2019) and signed by the Secretary, Fauziah Ibrahim, the aim of the Summit is to share with Ghanaians in the Diaspora how far Ghana has developed as a nation and the areas where Diaspora contribution in terms of investing and volunteering skill, expertise and resource can further aid Ghana’s socio-economic development, maintain its position as the leading light of West Africa and eventually Africa as a whole. The achievements of the Diaspora towards Ghana’s development will also be celebrated.

Keynote Speakers will include the President and Vice President of Ghana; the Ministers of Finance and Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, and from the private sector the President of Ashesi University and Founder and CEO of Nubuke Investments. Through panels, information sessions, display of goods and services, this event will provide a one-stop-shop of knowledge and action for Ghanaians at home and abroad and the international community at large.

The four-day event seeks to recognize and celebrate the immense contributions of Diasporans in nation building. The event will not only highlight past contributions but will focus on present contributions as well, whiles furthering the advocacy for political, economic, and all other systems and policies that would facilitate future contributions by the Ghanaian Diaspora.

The Summit galvanizes members of the Ghanaian Diaspora and encourage them to bring home to Ghana their financial and human resources locked up throughout the world, to accelerate nation building.

Furthermore, the event is designed to ​recognise and celebrate the immense contributions to nation-building by Ghanaian citizens or nationals overseas, as well as non-Ghanaians with roots to or a strong vested interest in the country.​ This year’s event promises to be even more insightful, action-oriented, and interactive, featuring both public and private sector experts who will share their experiences, as well as opportunities that exist in Ghana.

The Ghana Diaspora Celebration & Homecoming Summit 2019 is expecting delegates from over 50 countries to attend the three-day summit who ​can further aid Ghana’s socio-economic development,maintain its position as a leader on the African Continent, and network with like minded people.

The maiden edition which took place in 2001, attracted over 1,500 delegates with a follow-up summit in 2017 with over 2,000 delegates in attendance.

Keche Gains Nomination At Ghana Music & Arts Awards Europe’19.

The most consistent and versatile music group on the African continent, signed on to Ghanaian based talent management, recording & distribution label; GEM Rythymz, Keche has been nominated for the category of the “Music Group Of The Year”at the yet to be staged maiden edition of Ghana Music & Arts Awards Europe 2019

The group chalked this remarkable nomination after proven to be the continent’s classic music duo within the last decade. Keche is known to be one of the most consistent and versatile music groups in West Africa. Joshua is a rapper with the power of word play and Andrew is a songster with a silvery voice.  Joshua Ampah and Andrew Cudjoe make this talented, indomitable and dynamic duo. Both born and raised in Takoradi, in the Western region of Ghana, West Africa, their musical journey started very early in life as they both started singing at Sunday school and through basic education.

Samini To Represent Ghana At GUBA Awards.

Legendary Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall artiste christened, Emmanuel Andrews Sammini, popularly known within the entertainment circles as, Samini, is set to lead an army of music fanatics and patrons through an estimated 1 hour of performance at the 2019 edition of the Ghana UK Based Achievement (GUBA) Awards.

The "Untamed Album" crooner whose genre of music is a melodious mixture of highlife, dancehall, reggae and hip-hop, and has carve a nitch to suites the Ghanaian entertainment industry will be is expected to deliver an undiluted stage craft that seeks to leave a remarkable memory on the mind of the event goers.

He will be performing a host of his from his music catalogue, including hit song off his Untamed Album such as, "Obra", "My Own". Proven to be the best, as far as performing alongside the band (Liveband Music) is concerned, the reggae artiste will give an articulate performance with the crew, that will enable event patrons have a glimpse of his dexterity.

GUBA Awards seeks to reward, celebrate excellence and innovation of African individuals and organisation in the diaspora and Africa, working to the advancement, empowerment and progression of the African community in the Diaspora. Following the success of GUBA UK over the past decade, GUBA Enterprise is extending internationally and taking root in the United States of America to put the spotlight on the Diaspora within this pantheon community.  

Significantly this year, GUBA’s award ceremony will also place emphasis on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and will be held under the theme: "African Diaspora, the Catalyst for Growth and Innovation." In addressing the theme, the awards will center on the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17, to strengthen global partnerships in achieving the ambitious targets of the 2030 Agenda.

The organisations to be awarded on the night, are also playing vital roles in the fulfillment of the many SDG goals. In addition, the GUBA Awards USA’s recognition of the “Year of Return”, will be one of the many avenues of championing GUBA’s ‘unity impetus.’

Premiere Of “Pae Mu Ka” Documentary Suspended.

Multiple awards winning and celebrated Ghanaian rap performing and recording artiste, Michael Elliot Kwabena Okyere Darko popularly known as Obrafour, (Executioner) has temporarily and officially called off the premiere of his much awaited documentary dubbed "Pae Mu Ka at Twenty (20)".

According to a joint news release signed by the organizers and management of KRI8 Concept Entertainment, and Execution Limited, the event which was scheduled for September 27, 2019 at the Silverbird Cinemas, to honor the legendary rapper, with an unanimous decision taken, was suspended to ensure that some inconsistencies collected accounts are reconciled.

Earlier, Legendary Ghanaian musician, Obrafuor, was set to premier the much awaited Pae Mu Ka, a documentary telling the his 20 year story in the Ghana Music Industry at the Silverbird Cinemas as part of activities to mark this year’s Social Media Week activities in Accra.

The documentary throws light primarily on Obrafour’s first album – Pae Mu Ka and on the key happenings in the industry since Obrafuor seminal entry into the Ghana Music Industry.

Ekow Thompson, the Executive Director of Interactive Digital, organising partners of the SMW Accra said, the partnership with Obrafuor and the premiering of the Pae Mu Ka Documentary is directly in line with the global theme of SMW – STORIES: With Great Influence, Comes Great Responsibility.

Throughout history, storytelling has been an integral part of human connectedness, exhibiting great potential to shape who we are. Today storytelling is changing and technological innovation has proven to be an enabler of the change in storytelling. Social media today is the world’s most influential storytelling platform. Whatever form they take, the stories we tell through social media have the power to reach and influence more than 60% of people on the planet.

However, in the news release, the organizers and the management have outlined other planned activities including the Hiplife symposium, Cypher, Back-to-Taifa, concert and the main headlined PAE MU KA scheduled for November 9, 2019, commemorate the significance milestone, the release of Obrafour’s maiden album, Pae Mu Ka, will proceed uninterrupted.

The organizers and management of KRI8 Concept Limited, Execution Entertainment, and Rapper Obrafour extended their sincerer apology to patrons and fans for any inconvenience caused, as any related development will be communicated in due time.

MTN 4Syte Tv Music Video Awards Launch; Entries Opened.

4syte TV has opened nominations for entries into the 10th edition of the MTN 4syte TV Music Video Awards after an online launch.

The awards event is to reward creativity in the production of music videos released between 2018 and 2019.

MTN has been sponsoring the 4syte Music Video Awards since 2014.

The launch which was done via social media paves the way for interested persons to submit their entries from Friday 13th September 2019 to Saturday 28th September 2019.

The categories of Music videos to be awarded are the following: Best Gospel Music, Best Special Effect, Best Edited Video, Best Video Storyline, Best Photography, Best Reggae/Dancehall Video, Best Choreography Video and Best Discovery Video.

The rest of the categories for the video awards are Best Male, Best Female, Best Group, Best African Act Video, Hi-Life, Best HipLife, Best Collaboration and Best HipHop Videos.

There will also be awards for Best Directed Video, Most Popular Video and the Overall Best Video. An Achievement Award will also be given.

As part of the 10th-anniversary celebration of the MTN 4Syte music video awards, special awards categories have been introduced which are the ‘New Lords’ and ‘Big Chune’.

The most active record labels shall nominate a new act each from their camp. The labels are, Highly Spiritual, Lynx Entertainment, Rufftown Records, Legacy Life Entertainment, Bhim Nation, and BAM.

Shortlisting voting will be conducted on the social media pages of 4syte TV and MTN to select the final four. These final four will be entered into a twitter and Facebook poll a week before the main awards to select a winner.

Big Chune Category

This will be awarded to the biggest Ghanaian song of the year in terms of radio airplay, online streams and plays, and general buzz overall. Two online music data platforms (Kwesema and Ghud Music) with five all-time best radio DJ’s will be tasked to submit their choices to this category.

Five finalists will be put up for voting. Fans have 100% control over who wins in this category.

Mr. Ignace Hego, CEO of 4syte TV, indicated that the 10th anniversary of MTN 4syte Music Video Awards will celebrate excellence in the production of music videos and raise the standards of music video production in Ghana.

Commenting on the launch and request for entries for this year’s awards, the Chief Marketing Officer for MTN Mr. Noel Kojo- Ganson expressed his excitement about the fact that MTN as an enabler of opportunities is once again paving the way for unique talents in the entertainment industry to be celebrated through the MTN4SYTE Music video awards.

He said, “MTN is happy to be associated with the 4syte music video awards and we urge everyone with a video that fits into any of the categories for awards to submit their entries and also take advantage of the digital opportunities MTN provides to promote their work”.

Submission of entries are to be done on 4syte TV’s instagram page by reposting the short video calling for nominations. In the caption, the artiste must under list the music video they are submitting and provide the Artiste Name, the Song Title; Video Director and the date the video was released.

The artiste must then tag @mtnghana and @4syteTv. After the submission of entire, an automatic congratulatory message confirming receipt of the submission would be sent to the artiste after the post and the video entered into the submission list.
