Music has the tendency of influencing all aspects of our daily lives, this approach has been tried and tested and proves to be an effective way to get a message across with ease. Late November this year, Veteran K.K Fosu the D-styler and Nero X the “Osey” hit maker were unveiled as icons for the National Road safety commission’s (NRSC) crusade for an accident free yuletide and beyond at the launch of the Christmas and new year campaigned by the Minister of Transport, Hon. Kweku Ofori Asiamah under the team “Even One Death is Too Much To Bear, Lets Change Our Behaviors On The Road For An Accident Free Christmas And New Year”. Appointing celebrities as campaigns leads is a common trend here in Ghana as they use their following to leverage on the campaign and drive the message home at the end of the day.

At a short event held in Accra on the 6th Of December 2017 at the conference room of the NRSC Head Office, a song written and recorded by K.K Fosu and Nero X with its accompanying audio visual was launched. In attendance was the Executive Director of NRSC IGN. May Obiri Yebaoh (Mrs), DSP Alexander Kweku Obeng from the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU), K.K Fosu, Nero X and the road safety ambassador in the person of Gabby Adu Gyemfi the man who survived a gorier car accident which claimed the lives of 31 passengers making him the designated survivor who lost his right arm and spent 22 hours in the mortuary.

Addressing the press the Executive Director NRSC IGN. May Obiri Yebaoh (Mrs) told the gathering “December on the road safety calendar has been identified as one of the hot spot months that records many road crashes, Road Traffic Crashes is responsible for 2,000 deaths yearly” she added. She ended by admonishing the media to help take up this fight and asked that all Ghanaians become road safety ambassadors in their corner since achieving results will need a collaborative effort form all and sundry.

The short ceremony ended with an official launch of the video where individuals present had the chance to watch it for the first time and passed their comments. In the beautifully put together video, a scene that caught the attention of all and caused discomfort as many present couldn’t watch that scene was where a car dashed off the road running into a pull of people standing at the road side. advices every motorist or pedestrian to watch this video before stepping out in the morning to consciously remind ourselves of the role we need to play to keep this festive season an accident free one.
