Mills Media Announces “Asantewaa: Battle For The Golden Stool” Comic Book And Game.

Published

on

Asantewaa-Battle For The Golden Stool” is the very first Ghanaian/African superhero featured character in a comic book and video game. The creators of this wonderful piece are driven by a strong sense of passion for culture and this piece is geared towards unveiling the culture and ancestral memories of Africa and to show the world there are real life superheroes people don’t know about yet.

When we think of superheroes, we usually see them as people dressed in costumes who have the ability to either fly, breath fire, punch through brick walls or even shoot webs.

However, there are individuals who do not have these special abilities but have done great things and these are the real heroes. These are our heroes, particularly African heroes and our motherland Ghana has seen the existence of many super heroes. The problem however, is our failure to acknowledge these great men and women as the heroes.

Instead, we have warmly embraced the fictional heroes created for us in movies and in books. “Heroes of the Past” is a project aimed at presenting the great Ghanaian men and women who have contributed to our Ghanaian history to the world in a modern and exciting way.

“Asantewaa- battle for the Golden Stool” is a modern retell of the story of the great Yaa Asantewaa, who exhibited pure bravery when she led the Ashanti Kingdom against British Colonialism in 1900. She led her people to fight the British to protect the Golden stool which was and still remains  the symbol and pride of the Ashanti  Kingdom.

Yaa  Asantewaa is the reason why the Ashantis still take pride in the Golden stool. This project gives you the opportunity to relive these great historical moments as it provides interesting dialogue and graphic representation of events.

What a better way to learn about the history of our great nation than through the eye of an artist. It presents relatable characters which would make everyone especially children easily fall in love with our past Ghanaian heroes.

How cool would it be if our children would prefer to have Ghanaian/African hero themed parties instead of a Spiderman or ironman theme party. Technology is the sure way to achieve this.

“Our vision is to create a global platform that empowers and gives a voice to both the established and upcoming creatives in the fashion Industry. South Sudanese Star model Adut Akech was named 'Model of the Year' at last night's star-studded British Fashion Awards in London, earning her one of the biggest accolades during this year's ceremony.

The 19-year-old, South Sudanese-born model, beat out the likes of Adwoa Aboah, Kaia Gerber and Winnie Harlow to claim the recognition.

During her acceptance speech, Akech, who moved with her family to Australia as a young girl after fleeing South Sudan, touched on the need for better representation of women who look like her in the fashion industry. "It is important for all of us to remember that someone like me winning this award is a rarity," she said.

"This is for the young women and men who found representation and validation in my work. I want them to never be afraid of dreaming big like I once did."

The model has openly called out racism in the fashion industry in the past. Back in August, she called out Australia's Who Magazine after they published a story about her with a picture of a different model. "I feel as though this would've not have happened to a white model," she said at the time. "Not only do I personally feel insulted and disrespected, but I feel like my entire race has been disrespected," she added.

RICHARD MILLE: Rolex For Billionaires.

Published

on

The Richard Mille brand is a product of deep relationships from old Swiss luxury watchmaking and jewellery. Launched only in 2001 after three years of experimentation with materials, design and mechanisms, Richard Mille has quickly become one of the world’s ultra-luxury watch brands. Richard Mille, one of the co-founders, who had worked in the Swiss luxury timepiece industry since 1971, joined up with Dominique Guenat, owner of Guenat SA – Montres Valgine and a great friend, with whom he had worked on watches for Mauboussin, a previous employer.

They hatched the idea of launching the world’s most outstanding luxury watches, built on their common love for cars, aeronautics, and mechanics. Even though they were big boys in the world of luxury watchmaking, such an audacious dream required collaboration with other titans of the industry. They got the backing of Lucien Tissot, a lawyer whose family has been making luxury watches since 19th Century. Then they got the venerable Audemars Piguet to manufacture the complex design and mechanics of the Richard Mille watches. The watches, of course, incorporate the tourbillon mechanism – invented in 1795 to improve accuracy, the tourbillon is now largely a show-off displayed on Swiss watches that cost $40,000 and above. Most Richard Mille watches are not adorned with gold, silver, diamonds, or any precious stones, what you pay for is the exceptional mechanization, which draws on modern techniques and materials used in F1 cars and aerospace.

The brand has been spotted on celebrities such as Jay-Z, Drake, Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Kelvin Hart, Ed Sheeran, Jackie Chan, Natalie Portman, Michelle Yeoh and Chris Brown. Sports icons are not left out, Rafael Nadal, Wayde van Niekerk, Yohan Blake, Floyd Mayweather, Neymar da Silva, Bubba Watson, and Felipe Masa.

A Richard Mille watch is very expensive, as its price starts from $80,000 and it can go up to or even surpass $2 million. According to Declan Quinn, the famous Irish-American cinematographer, owning a Richard Mille watch is ‘’today’s equivalent of the billionaire’s handshake’’.

In 2018, Richard Mille withdrew from the luxury industry’s flagship marketing event, the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), to be known as Watches & Wonders Geneva from 2020. This further placed the brand in a class of its own, apart from even the most exclusive luxury watch brands. Since it began production in 2001, only 39,000 Richard Mille watches have been made – there are currently 29,500 dollar millionaires in Nigeria and 4.4 million millionaires in China.

Davido is one of the proud owners of Richard Mille, an ultra-exclusive watch brand.
