Ghana’s foremost University, Ghana Institute Of Management And Public Administration (GIMPA) known for its valuable contribution towards churning out business executives, Corporate and political leaders yesterday launched its 2018 Akwaba week celebrations as the University welcomed new entrants.
At the official press launch hosted by the Public Relations Officer Jeffred Okoe Aryeetey, the first gentleman – SRC President Joseph Osei Mensah took the opportunity to welcome the new intake and edged them not just to go through the four years but allow their stay here to be profitable and birth excellence.
In welcoming the freshmen, he admonished they take their stay on campus seriously and reflect excellence in all their endeavors as they have come to the center of Excellence in pursuit of academic success.
He rounded up by charging all students to fully participate in the week celebration as it’s a one of its kind and will leave an indelible memory considering the lineup of events that will mark the celebrations.
The week long celebration, which is under the theme, “Excellence in Leadership; a Collective Responsibility” is expected to last for a week.
Below is a breakdown of activities for the week and all are to take note;
Day 1 (Monday) – Gospel Rock Show
Day 2 (Tuesday) – Grooming and Branding Seminar
Day 3 (Wednesday) – Financial And Investment Seminar
Day 4 (Thursday) – Car Wash, Eating Competition, Old School Jam and More.
Day 5 (Friday) – Artist Night
Shatta Wale Lights Up WatsUp TV Legon Hall Week Artiste Night Concert
To climax the week long activities of the 67th Legon Hall week, leading pan-African TV Show, WatsUp TV hosted an Artiste Night Concert which hosted students to the biggest celebration campus concert at the University of Ghana.
With thousands of students and a fully charged crowd in anticipation of Shatta Wale's performance, he delivered with overwhelming cheers from fans as he performed their favorite songs. His presence also set the whole campus awake, as students were still demanding for more performances when the show was over.
Also commenting on the success of concert, CEO of WatsUp TV, ABD Traore mentioned how the show was mega with Shatta Wale and promised to host a much bigger one next year.
In an interview with Anterkyi Desmond President of the Legon Hall, he mentioned the concert was a huge success and apologised to fans who patronised the event but couldn't have the headline act perform to the end due to an unplanned power cut
Other artistes who performed at the concert include: Kwamz & Flava, Sista Afia , Dahlin Gage, Sefa, Dope Nation, Lord Paper, CJ Biggerman,Cocotreyy and a host of artistes.
DJs and MCs who performed at the concert include: DJ Vyrusky, DJ Sly, DJ MJ, DJ Toyor, Champagne Lee, Ogee the MC, Barimaseanbills, MC Jerome, MC Apiscola etc
The event which is an annual programme hosted by WatsUp TV promises to be bigger and better in subsequent years and was supported by SHOB Group, Endowed Entertainment, 369 Live & Mega Campus Concert.
