Double Blessing For Fashion Pilot As She Grabs Two Award Nominations.



Ghana’s emerging  bespoke image and fashion styling agency Fashion Pilot has bagged two separate award nominations in one month.

It comes as no surprise, it’s known that the brand over the years has been focused on creating bespoke styling for all and have served a wide array of clients ranging from celebrities, sports icons and the corporates among others.

“5 Ghanaian Movies Were Submitted To Ghana Oscar 2020 Nomination. – Mr. George Bosompim



A member of the Ghana Oscar 2020 Nomination Committee, Mr. George Bosompim has disclosed that, only five movies were submitted to their tables for shortlisting, after calling on all Ghanaian filmmakers to submit their films.

Following the guidelines of the Academy, the Ghana Oscar 2020 Nomination Committee is tasked to select from open submissions one film to represent Ghana at the Oscars come Feb, 2020, Hollywood. The committee watches the submitted movies and select those that meet the requirements and pass them on to the Oscar Committee in California.

For an update after the deadline (20th June, 2019) for submission of films to the committee for consideration, Mr. Bosompim made this revelation in an interview with He stated that, only five movies reached them and out of that, two shortlisted for secret voting.

He added that, most of them have voted. The chair Prof. Linus Abraham is leading the process. It will continue till September when the nominees committee in Hollywood will bring out the 10 nominated films for the international feature film category.

Asked if there’s hope for Ghana to get nomination in the Oscars come next year, he positively stated, he think so. But all these things. You need to lobby as well. So you need people in that circles in Hollywood as well.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2017 and 2018, approved a 14-member committee to select a film to represent Ghana at the 90th and 91st Oscars. Unfortunately, Ghana could not submit a movie on the back of the submitted movies’ inability to meet the required standards.

The committee, which has since been reconstituted, is now poised for action to get the best film to represent Ghana in the International Feature Film category at the Oscars come 2020.

PHOTOS: YME Launches The Maiden Edition Of GMAAE.



Organizers of Ghana Music and Arts Awards, Europe (GMAAE), Young Mission Entertainment (YME) has launched the maiden edition of the prestigious awards scheme which seek to reward the hard work of Ghanaians within the Music and Arts industry both in Ghana and Europe in Accra, Ghana.

Hosted by astute radio and television personality, Jay Foley, an on-air personality at Hitz 103.9FM and Caroline Sampson of YFM, the event, slated for Friday, 16th August, 2019 was stage at Golden Tulip Accra Hotel in the Greater Accra Region and amassed the presence the Ghanaian traditional mass communication media, bloggers and online journalist and dignitaries.

The launched also witnessed the presence of the President of Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and one time hiplife musician, Bice Osei Kuffour popularly known as Obour, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GB Interactive/ and entertainment critic, George Mensah Britton, Veteran Highlife musician, Alfred Benjamin "A.B" Crenstil, Rapper Sarkodie.

Entertainment fanatics and some Ghanaian entertainment practitioners who trooped in to the venue to patronize the event enjoyed soul soothing and overwhelming performances from some notable Ghanaian musicians, including sensational hiplife artiste, Fameye who lit the atmosphere as he performed his hit song "Nothing I Get". His performance got the launch goers dancing and chanting along with patrons demanding more from him.


Saxophonist, Mizter Okyere's talent can never be underated. The appealing and tolerant sound from his instrument was amazing. He left the wow-factor on the minds of patrons following an interesting performance of Kwesi Arthur's "Odo Yewu" tune, the late Ebony's tune "Mede Kuku which features Danny Beatz.

Highlife genre of music still remains Ghana's sole music genre export, and pioneer/legendary A.B. Crenstil elevated and protected that legacy by reincarnating the lifeless highlife genre of music after he took charge of the microphone to thrill patrons who who availed themselves at the event. His hit songs "Angelina" and "Moses" created memory and a cool ambience for highlife music fanatics.

The group of people who have a common interest, purpose or who share a common feature, categorically, the small group of musicians and vocalists who play pop, jazz, or rock music, The Ark Band, were soo on point. Their articulateness behind their respective instrument is something one can write home about. They helped Fameye, Mizter Okyere and Legendary A.B. Crenstil by playing each song that was performed on the night.

Coupled with minor activities, the Ghana Music and Arts Awards, Europe launch also witnessed the definition of each category, precisely taking into consideration the necessary qualities or characteristic that qualifies an artiste to emerge victorious from a nominated category and how the public, boards decides. It was followed by cutting of cake as a sign of celebrating a feet achieved by the organizers of the awards scheme.

This year, October 26th, 2019 will be the maiden edition of the awards ceremony and will be hosted at the Q Factory in Amsterdam. The scheme seeks to reward the hard work of Ghanaians within the Music and Arts industry both in Ghana and Europe as the name depicts and to bring Ghanaians across Europe and beyond together under one roof to celebrate Ghanaian Music and arts. The Concept is designed to celebrate the rich Ghanaian culture coupled with rewarding excellence in the music and arts industry.

However, speaking at the launch of the event, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Young Mission Entertainment, Ebenezer Amoako Frimpong revealed that, the organizers and board members of the GMAAE scheme strive to achieve this morally reprehensible dream and make it a reality.

According to him, the GMAAE is will to continue in their mandate to use their brand to expose Ghanaian talents, both the mainstream and the up and comings to the outside world, as it has noted and appreciates the role of Ghanaian musicians, other multiple talents who are helping elevate the Ghanaian culture through their arts.

Mr. Frimpong revealed that, the firm is willing to support and promote the Ghanaian arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively, including the ideas, customs, and social behaviour of the Ghanaian at the "Made In Ghana Exhibition and Fashion Show" which scheduled to take place at No Limit Geldershoofd, Amsterdam on the 25th of October, 2019, a day before the awards night.

Greater Accra Music Awards (GAMA) Closes Entries For Nominations.



Greater Accra Music Awards ( GAMA), an annual awards scheme that seeks to recognize and award musical talents in The Greater Accra Region which opened nominations on July 12,2019 will close the filing of nominations today Monday August 12, 2019 at 12 am.

According  to the organizers, the scheme aims at recognizing and celebrating the hard working artistes under the year in review. The CEO of the scheme Rashid said , “Ghana’s capital is undoubtedly the hub of great talent however due to several talents seeking greener pastures here, it has made it difficult for the musical fans to identify and celebrate the Greater Accra  artistes, it is also to touch base with musical roots in the capital.

“ Ghana music industry over the years have seen huge growth in the development hence creating a lots of employment throughout. The music industry is one the sectors which can boost of energetic youth”

He also added  that , the categories along with definitions are sent out to industry practitioners in the region by the GAMA Board; radio station DJs, night club DJs as well as MUSIGA Greater Regional office, major distributors of music etc, for nominations in the various categories.

Artistes who qualifies are artistes whose work were released in the year under review.

The winners within each category are determined by a twofold voting system. The first is a percentage of the final score allocated to the award academy who individually vote for their preferred artist/group.

The second is a larger percentage allocated to the general public who vote via SMS for their favorite artist after having access to various music samples on the official website. All the votes go to an independent auditing firm who determine the final winner.
