Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Directorial Debut ‘The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind’ Acquired By Netflix.

American media-service Netflix has officially acquired world global rights to British-Nigerian actor Chiwetel Ejiofor‘s anticipated movie The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind which will serve as his directorial debut.

The British film is based on the bestselling book of the same name written by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer and was shot in Malawi with the screenplay written by the award-winning actor.

The film follows 13-year-old William Kamkwamba who is thrown out of the school he loves when his family can no longer afford the fees.

Sneaking back into the school library, he finds a way, using the bones of the bicycle belonging to his father Trywell, to build a windmill which then saves his Malawian village from famine.

According to Netflix, the film highlights the power of education and individual determination to change the trajectory of a life, a village and a nation.

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind stars Maxwell Simba, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Aïssa Maïga, Lily Banda, Lemogang Tsipa, Philbert Falakeza, Joseph Marcell, and Noma Dumezweni.

Isan Elba, Daughter Of Idris Elba, Named Golden Globe Ambassador.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has named Isan Elba as next year’s Golden Globe Ambassador. She is the daughter of Golden Globe-winning actor Idris Elba’s and makeup artist Kim Elba.

Last year, they retired the title of Miss Golden Globe and switched it Golden Globe Ambassador. Simone Garcia Johnson, the daughter of Dwayne Johnson took the position. The Golden Globe Ambassador assist presenters with handing out awards and ushering winners on and off the stage during the Golden Globe Awards. Past honorees included Sophia, Sistine and Scarlet Stallone as well as Sosie Bacon and Dakota Johnson.

The news comes a day after the Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced that they were canceling the Golden Globe Ambassador Party amid the wildfires in Los Angeles and Venture Counties. The yearly event is held to announce the Golden Globe Ambassador.

The 76th Golden Globe Awards will take place Jan. 6, 2019 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The nominations announcement is set for Dec. 6.

Stan Lee Was Working On A Final Superhero With Daughter

Legendary comic book writer, Stan Lee passed away on Monday night.

Since his death, there’s been an overflow of emotions and gratitude from both celebrities and fans who have been thanking the writer for making their lives colourful through his different comic characters.

Before his passing, it turns out Stan left one more thing for his fans to look forward to.

According to TMZ, the writer and his daughter J.C. Lee were working on a brand new superhero before he died, and she’s vowing to push forward with the project.

In an interview with TMZ, J.C. talks about her father’s legacy and revealed the new hero was named Dirt Man and although she created the character, Stan worked with her on developing him right up until his last weekend.

Even though Dirt Man’s powers or his origin story are yet to be revealed this is one character we’re looking forward to seeing on the big screen.

John Boyega And Letitia Wright To Star In Upcoming Sci-Fi Love Story ‘Hold Back the Stars’

Black sci-fi and romance lovers, rejoice.

None other than Star Wars: The Force Awakens star John Boyega and Black Panther standout Letitia Wright will star opposite one another in the upcoming film Hold Back the Stars, based on Katie Khan’s 2017 novel by the same name. According to Variety, the film is being describes as “Romeo and Juliet meets Gravity.”

Mike Cahill will direct the film, and Christy Hall is the scriptwriter.

Here’ a summary of the novel via Shadow & Act:

Trapped in the vast void of space, Carys and Max have only 90 minutes of oxygen left to live. None of this was supposed to happen. After a freak accident, Carys and Max are left adrift in space with nothing to hold onto but each other. As they fall, they can’t help but look back at the world they left behind. A world whose rules they couldn’t submit to, a place where they never really belonged; a home they’re determined to get back to because they’ve come too far to lose each other now. While their air ticks dangerously low, one is offered the chance of salvation—but who will take it?
It might be a bit early to call, but we’re pretty much already sold on this one, especially with Boyega and Wright—two of the biggest stars to emerge from two of the most groundbreaking sci-fi and fantasy film’s in recent years—as leads.

Just imagine the two playing young, star-crossed lovers using their bond to help them survive in an increasingly complex universe—as you can tell, we’re pretty excited for this one.
