“Banned” An Augustin Dennis Live Comedy Show Slated For September 15.

Published

on

September is officially the month for comedy this year. The month is packed with lots of comedy activities which I believe many people would be interested in attending.

From shows such as Comedy Express, Laugh Kitchen, Glo Laffta Fest, Laughline and Banned, September is going to be a hilarious month.

Augustin Dennis, Ghana’s finest comedians and one of Ghana’s comedy exports has set his stage to perform his one man show he calls “Banned”.

According to him, banned is going to be a platform he would use to tell his side of the story involving the issue of his being banned from performing on any GH Comedy platform.

The issue of him being banned sparked a few controversies here and there but he wants to use the show to clear the air. It is a comedy show, so definitely it is going to be a very funny narrative by him.

Banned isn’t going to be just a comedy show, but also an art exhibition and Music. There would also be a session set aside for networking.

Supporting Augustin Dennis on the night is Jacinta, OB, David Oscar and Pararan. Venue for the event is the Silverbird Cinemas, Accra Mall. Ticket is a cool GhC 40.00 single and GhC 60.00 double. The date is on September 15. Augustin Dennis Live is proudly presented by Tealight.

Derick Kobina Bonney, known by many as DKB was honored to perform at the 70th birthday of former first lady of the nation, Her Excellency Madam Konadu Agyeman Rawlings. The comedian on the night was excellent with his delivery, cracking everyone present with hilarious jokes and was simply a delight to watch.

The comedian thrilled those present with his witty clever jokes. His performance was climaxed when he questioned the former first couple about their “firsts” early on in their relationship. The couple revealed who in the relationship farted first, which Papa Jerry owned up to. There were other revelations such as the first love song Papa Jay sang to Madam Konadu, which was karaoked by the birthday celebrant and the entire audience.

Even though there was a history between the two, DKB and Former first Lady Madam Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, on the night, the comedian displayed so much professionalism and creativity. In a video that was shared on many social media platforms, you can see the birthday celebrant enjoyed every bit of the performance.

In a media post after the performance, the comedian posted “I just finished performing at the 70th birthday of the former 1st lady Nana Konadu & Uncle Jerry John, Hon. Ken Ofori Atta etc in stiches. It is sad how some people predicted my downfall from the past issue but I rose up due to the God I serve. #Vimyaazo.”

The monthly comedy show Comedy Express which DKB is a regular performer, comes off Saturday December 1st, at the cockpit bar and lounge inside the Achimota mall.

Comedy Express Sets Record At Cockpit Lounge With A Heavy Overflow Last Saturday.

Published

It was a fun and exciting evening, filled with hilarious rib cracking jokes that would tickle you for a life time. Comedy Express was the place to be last Saturday and once again it has made another staggering record. The venue, Cockpit Bar and Lounge saw a mammoth crowd troop in to enjoy their fair share of GhComedy.

It was a wonderful sight to behold as a large number of people were seen standing to catch and enjoy the comedians perform. The Lounge was filled to capacity to the extent that, the reserved seat for VIPs and VVIPs were also filled that some patrons holding these tickets, had to also stand. Reserved chairs were also filled. Could the heavy patronage on Saturday mean, Ghanaians have come to accept GhComedy?

Derick Kobina Bonney, known by many as DKB, was overwhelmed by the number of people that turned up for the event. Speaking to him, the comedian spoke about how humble he was upon seeing such a large number appear for monthly comedy show and emphasized that GhComedy has come to stay.

“I was overwhelmed by the turn out, I wasn’t expecting such a huge turnout. The place was filled to the capacity that people had no option than to stand and enjoy the show. TVs which were installed for VIP ticket bearers had to be the solution for those who were standing to enjoy the show as Almost half the size were also outside waiting to get in.

The comedians on the night did extremely well, they were excellent and I am proud of them. After what happened on Saturday, I am fully convinced that Ghanaians have come to accept us [Comedians], and we are not going to let them down.” He said.

On the night, there were amazing gift prizes to be giving out to patrons of the show. A TV was won by a campus promoter and a brand new mobile phone was won by a lady. There were also free betting vouchers which were won by a footballer who was in the audience. All these items were presented by Soccabet. 2 lucky Fans who laughed the hardest during the event were also giving a bottle of perfume from UDY Paris.

There were performances from Comedian OB, Lekzy DeComic, MJ The Comedian, Ajeezay, Comedian Waris, Sportoo, Percy and Putogo. Each of these comedians had an excellent night and I am sure they’d gradually be household names.

Catch the next show on December 1, 2018. You can also watch the Comedy Express show on Youtube channel (Comedy Express Ghana)
