Afrobeats Rapper 6ixty Drops ‘Close To You’ Single Off Debut Album

Afrobeats rapper 6ixty on Friday, January 11, 2019, at around 4 PM at his base in Ghana quietly released Close To You, the first single off his upcoming debut album titled Nyamekye. 6ixty dropped the beat on his SoundCloud.

Close To You is a love song performed in West African Pidgin English with some sprinkling of the Ghanaian Twi language on the backdrop of a classic sample. It provides easy listening for Afrobeat lovers and all. The single features DatBeatGod on the hook who also produced it.

Known in real life as Enock Ako Akrong, and a 2013 graduate of the Regional Maritime University (RMU) of Ghana who majored in Marine Mechanic, 6ixty disclosed that his musical ambitions started even before he enrolled in RMU. “Back before in my Senior High School days at Osu Presec in Accra Ghana, I always felt the call of music loudly in my heart.“

6ixty who is also CEO of the artist, event, and production management firm Fun Houz Entertainment, told TheAfricanDream.net that Close To You is inspired by love, and while he worked on it with his producer, they both coincidentally agreed on many things regarding “how my debut album would sound and feel like.”

“We had an easy connection which listeners can catch from hearing the single, so it made sense to have him feature on a few of the other tracks of the coming album, which is going to have 7 tracks on it in total,” 6ixty said.

“DatBeatGod is the known for producing top Ghanaian Afrobeats musicians like Dennis Nana Dwamena who is popularly known by his stage name KiDi.” 6ixty told TheAfricanDream.net that it was important “to work with not just someone who respects quality, but someone who blended with my musical vision, so DatBeatGod was just the right pick for the job.”

Nyamekye the album is expected to drop sometime in 2019 according to 6ixty who disclosed it will be signed to Fun Houz Entertainment which is run by himself. Fun Houz was behind the facilitation of the first performance of Nigerian gospel jazz-duo — Twinsax — in Ghana in the last quarter of 2017.

DopeNation Earmark For ”Group Of The Year” At VGMA 2019

Popular Ghanaian twin duo DopeNation stands to be potential winners of the ‘Group Of The Year’ category at the 20th Edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2019 per criteria by the prestigious event house Charter House.

The identical twin group DopeNation which consist of Michael Boafo better known as B2 and Tony Boafo also known as Twist made a major impact in the entertainment scene and their career in the 2018 year under review.

The duo with 3 major projects backed up with features to their credit received massive positive feedback from the music lovers and the industry at large.

The duo released ‘Eish’, their first single which topped music charts across borders of Africa and in a short period became an Anthem on streets and event grounds. DopeNation then after unleashing ‘Naami’ with production credit to MOG, which later caught the eyes of African superstar Olamide for him to hop on the remix, also an escalate Jam. Last but not the least they released their last hit ‘Ibi Tins’ which features a host of talented hit makers including Quamina Mp, Eddie Khae,Kofi Mole,Twitch and Tulenkey.

All these to their credits the duo deserves to be crowned Group Of The Year at this year’s edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

”Daddy Lumba Can’t Be Greater Than Kojo Antwi” – Made In Ghana Ambassador, Okyeame Kwame

Ghanaian Hiplife artiste cum rapper, Okyeame Kwame has stated, it is impossible to compare music legends Daddy Lumba and Kojo Antwi, as the two are different, independent and creative style of in presenting their lyrics to their purported audience within allocated jurisdictions.

According to the Made In Ghana ambassador, comparing awards winning artistes, Daddy Lumba and Kojo Antwi is rhetorical, explaining that, you determine who surpasses the other in terms of highlife music, as they are both extremely great and talented and possess different characteristics.

Ghanaian born ace highlife artistes, Charles Kwadzo Fosuh, who performs as Daddy Lumba(DL) and Kojo Antwi popularly known as ”Mr. Music Man” have been in the news lately, as music fanatics quiz to determine who amongst the two possess the most positive qualities.

Speaking in an interview the Rap Doctor stated emphatically that, the two legends have different styles of delivery which has pushed them in the music industry for decades, adding that, both highlife gurus have the characteristics to spend hours on the stage to perform without any unforeseen obstacle.

The ”Faithfull” hitmaker stated that, their music is different, indicating that, Kojo Antwi does a Reggae-fusion music and Daddy Lumba sticks to his undiluted highlife music, explicitly expressed that, art cannot be measured.

Rapper Okyeame Kwame indicated that, the two biggest music export have different way of expressing and penning down their own lyrics. According to him, Kojo Antwi uses metaphors, similes and other literary devices in his music and Daddy Lumba uses culture, history, and proverbs in his music which makes them unique in their own world.

Okyeame Kwame is set to release his ablum tagged, ‘Made In Ghana’ which he has selflessly dedicated to promote products which are originated from Ghana.

Okyeame Kwame’s 10th Marriage Anniversary

Okyeame Kwame and nicknamed Rap Doctor, took to Instagram to wish his wife a happy Anniversary.

The two, Annica Nsiah-Apau and Kwame Nsiah-Apau have been together for 14 years. They met in the year 2005 but tied the knot in 2009. Blessed with two kids, Sante and Antwiwaa Nsiah-Apau.

E.L To Perform At 2019 SXSW Music Festival

Ghanaian rapper, singer and record producer, E.L has been listed among the artists to be performing at the 2019 SXSW Music Festival, which is slated for March 11-17, 2019. The announcement was made known in November of 2018.

Aside the 2016 ”VGMA Artist of the Year” performing, he was the ONLY Ghanaian Afrobeat artist to be featured on SXSW FM 2019 Spotlight with his song ‘Overdose’. Other artists who were featured include: Adekunle Gold (Nigeria), King Kanja (Kenya), Urban Hype (Zambia), Anatii (South Africa), Stanley Enow (Cameroon) amongst others.

”I think it’s a great opportunity for me to showcase my new music on a world stage. First of all, it’s amazing that, the stage has been set because it’s been a lot of back and forth to establish a platform where Africans can come and do their thing. This is a full set and it’s actually a very big step in our conquest of the world. Also, Afrobeat is taking over slowly in musical circles and our place to show/let the world hear what we have to offer, so I’m excited and we are definitely planning on releasing my new album this year. And I think the platform by SXSW will be a good launching spot to begin that journey”, expresses E.L

E.L will be joined by his Ghanaian counterparts, Samini, Efya, YFM’s DJ Kess and Jojo Abot at the festival which will take plance in Austin, Texas. Other African artists booked to perform at the festival includes Simi, Adekunle Gold, Mayorkun, Vector, Falz, Mr Eazi, Seyi Shay, Yemi Alade, Cassper Nyovest, Victoria Kimani, Khaligraph and Anatii.
